hello there.
I work in the vector space spanned by machine learning, data science, computer vision, and embedded systems.
I've researched graph neural networks for crystal characterization in complex metal alloys, built machine
learning systems for Taiwan's first digital unicorn startup, and developed cloud infrastructure to stream data from sensors deep in the mangrove forests
of Mexico.
In high school I led the team that won second place in the 2023 international Robocup and helped build the
world's fastest unmanned electric boat.
I enjoy questionable creative writing, science journalism, eating
shredded rocks,
and intaking caffeine in its many delicious forms.
I study at the {{ mitText }} (MIT), majoring in computer science and electrical engineering.
experience.
I've been fortunate to work alongside amazing people from research labs and startups and way too many build teams. One question I get a lot is "so, Jieruei, what exactly do you do?" and I never have a definite answer. I learn what's needed to get the job done, whatever said job may be: machine learning, cloud infrastructure, embedded systems, computer vision, frontend, backend. My most recent interests are in digital design and computer architecture. Here are some of the groups I'm part of and some of the places I've been.
projects.
I make things that I think are functional, absurd, or make the world a slightly more interesting place. Some of these projects took months. Some of these were built in an afternoon. All of them I have loved, hated, learned from, and loved again.
contact.
The fastest way to get in touch with me is probably via Discord @conv2d (yes, I'm chronically online). If you'd like to be more formal, feel free to shoot an email to jieruei@mit.edu. Resume/portfolio available on request. I love building interesting things with cool people. Reach out if you're interested.
